While doing some research for this recipe, I was shocked to discover there were very few recipes for this drink on the web. I knew I wanted to make this drink this holiday season but now I am extra excited knowing I’m bringing you the BEST recipe you will find for homemade spiked peppermint white hot chocolate!

This drink is decadent, luxuriously creamy and super festive. It’s perfect for serving up with Christmas cookies after Christmas dinner or curling up on the couch to sip on while watching a cozy Christmas movie.

Don’t drink alcohol? No worries! You can easily omit the liqueur and add a bit more peppermint extract, and you will still have a rich, chocolatey and festive drink. I have provided more details on the non-alcoholic version below.

Ingredients

  • Milk of choice
  • White chocolate
  • Peppermint extract
  • Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur
  • Peppermint Schnapps

Optional toppings:

  • Mini marshmallows
  • Whipped cream
  • Crushed candy cane

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cup
  • Kitchen scale
  • Shot glass or jigger
  • Large mug (preferably a festive one)

Instructions

In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine milk of choice and white chocolate. You can use any milk you like. I used almond milk. If you are using a bar of white chocolate, chop it into smaller pieces before adding to the pan.

Continuously whisk mixture as it heats up, ensuring the milk or chocolate does not burn on the bottom. Once the white chocolate has completely melted and small bubbles start to surface, remove the pan from the heat.

Add peppermint extract, Godiva white chocolate liqueur and peppermint schnapps. If you want some froth in your drink, vigorously whisk mixture for 15-20 seconds before pouring into your mug.

Top the spiked peppermint white hot chocolate with marshmallows, whipped cream, crushed candy cane or a combination of the three!

I found mini peppermint marshmallows at Trader Joe’s and they were absolutely perfect for this drink. Jet Puffed, Dandies and a few other brands make peppermint marshmallows, as well!

How To Make Non Alcoholic

Heat up milk of choice and white chocolate in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, just as you would for the spiked version above. Be sure to constantly whisk the mixture as it heats up.

Once the white chocolate is completely melted and small bubbles are starting to surface, remove the pan from the heat and add 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract.

Carefully pour the peppermint white hot chocolate into your mug, top with desired toppings and enjoy!
